About Captain Tyler

Captain Tyler is the owner and operator of Flatliner Charters and brings more than a decade of hands-on experience as a commercial fisherman on Cape Cod. His background has given him deep, practical knowledge of both finfish and shellfish species throughout the region. Tyler’s navigational experience spans from the Gulf of Maine to the Florida Keys, with offshore runs extending to the Northeast Canyons.

Captain Tyler holds a United States Coast Guard 100-Ton Master’s License and is widely respected for his professionalism, safety standards, and ability to consistently put anglers on fish. Over the years, many anglers have shared outstanding feedback about their time on the water with him.

Tyler is also part of a strong network of captains who share information to improve success and maintain safety at sea.

Having grown up in the commercial fishing industry, Tyler is highly skilled with marine engines and vessel maintenance, and he remains closely connected to the working waterfront – selling clams in the offseason and staying active in the local fishing community year-round.

About Tyler’s Boat

Tyler operates a 28’ Whitewater that is well suited for targeting striped bass, albies, tuna, tautog and virtually every type of fish you’ll find in New England waters.

The boat is set up with efficiency in mind. Powered by a 300hp Mercury engine, it allows for quick runs to productive areas, while the open deck layout gives anglers plenty of room to fish comfortably—especially during fast-moving surface action when space and mobility matter most.

One of the key advantages of Tyler’s operation is that the boat is trailered. This flexibility allows him to launch from different locations depending on conditions, rather than being limited to a single home port. As a result, trips can be planned around where fishing is best at any given time.

With a background in commercial fishing, Tyler brings a strong understanding of fish behavior and vessel handling. He also stays closely connected with a network of local captains, which helps him stay informed on current conditions and productive areas. He has developed a steady, organized approach that works well for anglers of all experience levels.

Whether guests are seasoned fishermen or brand new to the sport, Tyler takes the time to make sure everyone is comfortable on board and gets the most out of the day on the water.

What Clients Are Saying...

Types of Charters/Trips

Monomoy Rips: September brings some of the year’s most explosive topwater action. As baitfish schools thicken up for their fall migration, the Monomoy Rips become a striper paradise. Watch stripers explode on surface lures in the clear ripping water as they aggressively feed in preparation for the migration.

Cape Cod Bay & Provincetown: September transforms the Bay into a live bait angler’s dream. Live mackerel has been king this year for Tyler in the bay and off Plymouth, but during the last few trips vertical jigging off Ptown with diamond jigs has been hot.

September Advantage: This is when both locations really shine. The stripers have been feeding all summer, and they’re aggressively preparing for their southern migration. Water temperatures are cooling, bait concentrations are peaking, and the fish are less pressured after the summer crowds thin out.

Tyler supplies light tackle spinning gear and will switch tactics based on conditions – topwater plugs for the explosive Rips action, diamond jigs when they’re holding deeper, or live-lining pogies and mackerel when the big girls want the real deal. September fishing means adapting to what could be some of the best striper action of the entire season.
